Why does Peru extract less and less oil?

Daily production fell below 40,000 barrels in September. From January to July there was no drilling to search for new deposits. And Perupetro still does not have a president to auction six lots in Talara.

Paraphrasing Antonio Raimondi: Peru is a beggar sitting on a bench of ‘black gold’. This is because it is located, according to Perupetro, in the same geological basin where other countries -Ecuador, Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil- are successful in oil extraction. But here very little is exploited.
